In 2008, a case study instated by the City of St. Petersburg, Florida in collaboration with the FHWA demonstrated how a Rectangular Rapid Flash Beacon (RRFB) can be efficient in improving safety at crosswalks. Accodring to the study, an average of 82.3% of drivers comply with pedestrian priority when an RRFB is installed, compared to inly 1.6% without any RRFB.

EASY INSTALLATION ON STANDARD POSTS
DRY CONTACT ACTIVATION
The controller is equipped with a dry contact input for connection of any external sensor. Sensors could be : pedestrian or motion detector, temperature sensor, speed radar, etc. When the senor activates the dry contact, the flasher turns on and runs according to actual setup.
Every event is recorded in the controller. This means it is possible to know the flasher’s status in any previous time period and to extract data about frequency of use. Data is exported in CSV format.
EASY PAIRING OF WIRELESS DEVICES
Whether pairing a remote control or two flashers together, the procedure is quick and easy. Piano switches mounted on the controller allows for devices to create links between eachother without the need of a computer. Pairing can thus be done on the field, at installation.
Every controller is equipped with an internal schedule that can start or stop the system according to desired date and time. While in standby, pressing the push-button can still activate the system, which is great for schoolzones situations.
To facilitate the flasher setup as much as possible, flashing modes and operation modes are already programmed in the controller. Piano switches are mounted directly on the controller which makes setup fast and simple, whether it be at the factory or at installation.
