FIRST SUMMIT DEDICATED TO PEDESTRIAN IN QUEBEC
Trafic Innovation develops tools to promote road safety through signaling to help vulnerable users travel safely. Following the workshops presented during this first summit dedicated to pedestrians, we noted that land use planning and the marriage of adequate dynamic signage remain an excellent combination to raise awareness of cohabitation among road users. Systems such as rapidly flashing rectangular flashing lights at pedestrian crossings, public awareness message displays activated under detection and improved traffic signs to increase visibility of the prescribed speed. These tools are all quick to deploy, durable and allow respect for the different clientele on the streets. Cyclists are also provided protection by installing boundary markers, such as bollards and flexible delineators to divide traffic corridors. These tools have proven themselves for sharing the road safely for many years in North America.
